Looking at the region I am living in, Asean, I feel quite lucky that I am living in Singapore. Politically, its a very stable country. It has few natural disasters, but economically, the country is booming again. Singapore is a small country with no natural resources, but I think the sound economic policies that the its government has dished out for the past few decades has enable it to endure through most of the storms like the 1997 Asian Financial Crisis, the 2000 Dot.com bubble burst and the recent sub-prime mortgage crisis.
Singapore is an open economic, dependent on large economies like America and China. However, looking at what is happening lately around the region politically, I feel that my country is not bad after all. Having a dominate political party does have its strength's, especially for a small country like Singapore.
