Taiwanese Students

Yesterday and 2 days ago entertained some Taiwanese geography undergraduates. 1 guy and the rest all girls. I and my pres brought a group of 2 girls and 1 guy around to Chinatown and Little India, before we had to go for a meeting and leave them to loiter in Singapore. It was really quite tiring because we had to do a lot of walking, and Singapore's sun is not of the most forgiving these few days. Luckily, we all survived with no heatstroke, even though we did not really hydrate ourselves adequately. My group was very lucky. We got treated by their prof and eat quite a hearty lunch, enough to kill me, its like we have to play 中及密码 to finish our food. My most over-indulging lunch since a real long time.

I myself had never really been to Chinatown and Little India, so the visits for them are actually as big an eye-opener for me as it was for them. On top of that, interacting with Taiwanese people is really interesting. Maybe because I watch too much Taiwanese variety shows, but they really remind me of the things I see on TV. Their actions, reactions and counter-reactions. They seem to be a much more lively bunch of people as compared to Singaporeans. Quote from my pres 'I asked them to all clap together to celebrate this wonderful day we had in NUS, and they really did it, and quite enthusiastically some more.' I was there too, and I could feel the difference, between my claps n their claps, haha..

More importantly, I learnt more about Taiwan in general, with the usual language trading of Singlish with Taiwanese language. Oh, forgot to say that I went pubbing with some of the girls too, and with J-OHN man, hha... it was an enjoyable night with them in general.

Hope they are able to get their papers done well. Hope they enjoyed their short stay in Singapore. Hope we have been a great host. Hope to see them in our trip to Taiwan in the near future in July. Also, I think my Chinese standard is still ok, at least they understand me in general, haha...
