The power of coercion, especially the media influence. 'Hung up, I am so hung up on you...' Or something like that I suppose. The words dun really mean anything to me, but the intensive repetitive play of this dance pop song grew from downright annoying to nice and smooth to 'Get it out of my HEAD!!'
Now, I kind of like this song, but if not for the overdose of it, I this might never happen. Is this form of coercion ethical, or legal? Well, it must be legal, or else it would'nt be happening right? Hmmm... Ethcial? I do not know, but Mill and Berlin got me thinking quite intensively about the topic of coercion in my Philosophy class. But who cares?
Finger lick good, just doing it, just love it... Do we really get to choose what we like or are we force to like something under the fierce bombardment of the media and other social factors? Valentine's Day, Easter Friday, Christmas. Twisted by the media and corporations for their own good? Any reason why Valentine's Day roses cost $50? Christmas, a season for giving or buying? And the Easter day are about bunnies and coloured eggs? Hidden agenda, soft propaganda. A soft, addictive social drug, and once we get hooked in, we thrive on anything they hit at you? By then, modern slaves we become with economic and social shackles that are chain us without us knowing it.
