An old man and a small kid

There was an old man that had a grandson. The young boy loves his grandfather, but was a very playful and naughty boy, often creating alot of trouble for grandfather. He was very rude to him, and always not listening to his grandfather's words. The boy had an addiction for coffee, while the old man had one for cigarettes. Both disliked each other's habit, and wanted the other kick their habit for the sake of their health.

Finally, out of concern, the grandfather made a pact w the young boy that if he was to quit his addiction for coffee, he would quit his smoking as well. So, they made a deal, n the young boy was very delighted that he was finally doing something to help his grandfather quit his bad habit.

Days passed by, n the young boy was slowly quitting his habit, but the grandfather was still stuck to his. Basically, it was a habit he had with him for the past 50 years, not asking him to quit right now is not as easy as it is. Although the boy was upset abt it, he understood that it was not an easy habit for an old man to quit, and that i wil take more time than his coffee addiction to get rid of. He did not really press on to force his grandfather to quit smoking.

Eventually, after to decades of smoking, the old man's lungs finally collapsed. He died of lung cancer. The boy felt very gulity. If he had forced his grandfather to quit smoking, it might have gave him a few more good years b4 he pass on.

From that time on, the boy had a pact with himself. As a token of remembrance to his late grandfather, he told himself he will not drink coffee. Even though the boy now does not make specially avoid coffee, as it is not appliable in real life, he still keeps this story in his heart.

Till to date, he still feels guilty, but not for not forcing him to quit smoking, but for being the naughty, mischevious, playful imp that not only created a lot of trouble for his grandfather, and at times were utterly rude to him.

So, to anyone that is willing to read this story, i urge those people that their grandparents are still around to be fillial to them when u still can, and not to regret that u did not when they have passed on.

Peace =)

Well, that little boy managed to learn sth important about life from this incident...& that, is exactly why he shouldn't 'drown' in deep regret, remorse & guilt...
