Dunno if anybody remembers this Sporean moive, a production of the RainTree Productions. A comedy love story abt 2 familes of chicken rice sellers that have their stalls side by side. They are sworn enemies becos both sides feel that the other wants to steal their secret chicken rice recipe. The movie stars the handsome Pierre Png, as Fenson Wong, n the divinely hot goddess, Lum May Yee, the Host of Extreme Gormet, as Audrey Chan.
The geeky Fenson(Pierre being geeky!!!) falls for the belle of his faculty, Audrey, n trys to win the maiden's hand from Nick Carter(thats the name), Audrey's bf, played by Randall Tan, a dude from Light Years. Fenson feels that by getting the male lead, Romeo, in an experimental play of Romeo n Juliet, w Audrey playing Juliet, Audrey will fall in love w him. One prob is the current Romeo is played by Nick, but fortunately, he is cant remember much of his lines. So the director gave Fenson a shot at it. Fenson was correct abt Audrey falling in love w him. Evenutally, Fenson gets the role, won the gal, n help patch up their family conflict w the help of some lousy supplier that gave them sick chicken.
Gd local production, w lots of eye candy for both sexes. Do remember this production was made at the time where local movies werent being popularized by the now famous movie director cum alot of things, Jack Neo.
This movie also gives me a pretty warm n nice feeling.
1stly, its a local production. I always feel more attached to a local movie than to hollywood blockbusters, even if the latter is damn gd.
2ndly, it has alot of eye candy. Almost all the guys n gals that are young are handsome, sexy n beautiful. Nothing beats Pierre Png in the male catogory, while Lum May Yee is really very hot n sexy, fitting very well into her rather snobbish, yet sophisticated 'princess' charactor.
3rdly, the strong Shakespeare mix in the movie is just nice. Gives the show some sense of sophistication, yet not too much till its too distant. Also makes me feel proud that a Singapore film can blend the pinnacle of Sharespearean classics w a modern love story that well.
4th, its a fairy-tale like story abt a geek winning the heart of his faculty belle!!! Who doesnt like such a simple, yet heart-warming story? On a personal note, it also makes me feel i that i have hope of winning over the gal of my dreams, hahahaha...
If u wan to c it, try ur luck at SCV channel 55. i saw it like 3 to 4 times thru that channl by sheer luck, n if it were to be showed in a months' time again, i would still watch it, haha.. cos got the very divinely hot n sexy LUM MAY YEE, ;p... Never seen it on sale anywhere, or heard of anyone downloading it, haha.... Just a warning, SCV din censor all of the 'F%^&' in the movie, dunno y.....
I give great credits for the way the director n the production crew for pulling such a wonderful trick out of their hats. =)
